Safety in the automotive industry is an absolute priority. One of the most important elements of occupant protection is the airbag—but for it to work properly, the vehicle interior must also be compatible with it, including seat covers. That’s exactly why we use a documented airbag seam, which ensures the cover opens in a controlled way the moment the airbag is activated.
In this article, we’ll explain why a documented airbag seam is essential, how it’s manufactured and checked, and what other safety features our custom-made seat covers offer.
In an accident, the airbag must inflate instantly and without obstruction. A documented airbag seam is designed so the cover opens in a controlled way at a precisely defined point, allowing the airbag to deploy correctly. The result is better protection for both the driver and passengers and a reduced risk of injury.
When it comes to safety, milliseconds matter. Thanks to our system, the cover-opening process is designed so it does not slow down airbag deployment—activation takes approximately 0.14 s (within the technology we use and our controlled procedures).
Each documented airbag seam is produced at a specialized airbag station. We also ensure traceability and verifiability of the process:
This approach increases confidence that the cover will perform as it should at the critical moment.
Our goal is for our custom-made seat covers to achieve a level of safety comparable to factory production. That’s why we use airbag stitching and procedures designed for high reliability and consistent quality.
In the airbag zone, details are critical. We focus on precise seam routing, process control, and proper cover design to minimize the risk of failure in the event of an accident.
Safety isn’t only about airbags. High-quality custom-made seat covers should protect the vehicle interior and preserve its value long-term. That’s why we also focus on these features:
Seat covers protect the original seats from wear, stains, and mechanical damage. In practice, this means a longer-lasting interior and a better vehicle condition over time.
We use materials with an emphasis on flame resistance, because safety in a car also includes protection against fire risk.
The materials are designed so the colors withstand UV radiation and don’t fade over time. This keeps the interior looking aesthetic and presentable even with everyday use.
Seat covers are exposed to friction and wear when getting in and out, as well as during driving. Emphasizing abrasion resistance helps maintain both the appearance and functionality of the cover over a long period.
Anti-static properties help minimize the buildup of static electricity, which increases comfort and contributes to the practical use of materials in the interior.
We’re a leader not only in craftsmanship quality, but also in our approach to safety. A documented airbag seam, together with additional properties (flame resistance, durability, lightfastness, anti-static performance), means custom-made seat covers provide comprehensive protection, reliability, and long-term value.
